The Friends of the Metropolitan Police Heritage Charity are a small group who have been working together since 1995, helping to preserve and promote the history and heritage of the Metropolitan Police Service.
We have recently became a Registered Charity in June 2016, in order to help raise funds and awareness to support and continue the legacy of this important work, to also work alongside the Metropolitan Police Service Heritage Team.
Our core activities are:
- To assist in the preservation and promotion for the continued acquisition and conservation of the numerous artefacts related to the Metropolitan Police Service history and heritage.
- To assist in the advice of the many family historians who are interested in the Metropolitan Police Service ancestry.
- To assist in promoting our very own volunteers to become Metropolitan Police Volunteers who can support the professional heritage team within the Metropolitan Police Service, where they can gain professional training and advice in maintaining the history and heritage.
Our aim for our volunteers and members
Our aim is for our members to always assist in the professional preservation and promotion of the history and heritage of the Metropolitan Police Service. We try to encourage some of our volunteer members to work alongside the professional heritage team within the Metropolitan Police Service. Our members help to raise funds and the continued awareness of the charity in order to support the legacy of the important work in maintaining the history and heritage of the Metropolitan Police Service.
